Setting Boundaries

Did you ever heard about setting boundaries? may sound salty, but it almost happens to everyone. In this life, perhaps many of us are often told to give too much time or material, energy, feel unappreciated or powerless when in a difficult situation. This happens because we unconsciously allow these people to treat us that way. Maybe because we have no Limits. Boundaries are limits that are acceptable or not, and what can be tolerated or not. And this limit applies to other people or yourself. Boundaries are setting emotional, mental and spiritual space for ourselves. Even these limits, types and priority scales are also different, some are emotional, some are physical, then our limits to other people are also different. Having boundaries is a very important thing. Setting boundaries is not to control others, but to protect yourself. And this helps us to be able to clearly distinguish between our position and the position of others, between our desires and those of others. Setting boundaries is a form of self love, we have the right to have personal space and protect that space, and as humans we have the right to have autonomy over ourselves. Boundaries are protection against people who want to take advantage of us, control us, or manipulate us. And most importantly, the happiness of others is not our responsibility. Boundaries help us form healthy relationships with other people, because basically healthy relationships are based on mutual respect. As for someone who wants to have a relationship with another person, not because of how that person is, not because of their personality, not because of the values they hold, but because that person is kind to us. This mindset is not good for establishing a healthy and good relationship, therefore setting boundaries is very important.

Boundaries themselves mean that protectors protect us from things we don't like and things that are outside of our responsibilities, so setting these boundaries prevents us from being people pleasers. As a step to love yourself, forming and setting boundaries can also help maintain mental health, you know. This is because having boundaries is a form of healthy outlook and proof that we care about ourselves. Setting healthy boundaries also helps you to take responsibility for the decisions you have made without anyone else interfering in them. In addition, establishing setting boundaries can also build trust and healthy relationships with your family, partner, friends or co-workers. So, how do you form setting boundaries? first we must have Self Awareness, be assertive and communicate, put yourself first, apply in daily life.

The most important value is that we are responsible for ourselves, our existence is not to please others, and we have the right to live independently. Why is it difficult for us to have Boundaries?, because we are afraid of being considered complicated or not cool, afraid of confrontation when communicating boundaries to others, we don't know what the concept of boundaries is, and sometimes misinterpret boundaries. How to identify and set boundaries?, first you can find the value in ourselves, then analyze why the value is important, categorize the Boundary and find a balance, apply the Boundary in your life, Analyze the situation. We must communicate this, be transparent, honest, firm, and respectful when communicating our needs. Maybe at first we will feel scared or uncomfortable, but it's all a process. The more we challenge the boundaries that we have made, the easier it will be for us to communicate this well. We also have no need to feel sorry or apologize for setting your own boundaries. Because other people's happiness is not our responsibility, and people's offense is not our responsibility either. We have done our part we have communicating our needs in respectful way, and if the person is offended its not our way. And the last one is find the right support system that can respect your personal boundaries you set. So as human beings who have freedom, we should be able to feel sorry for ourselves, and not everything about other people matters. If we want to be respected by others, we must first be able to respect others too.
